I've read the book, pretty interesting. The movie won't be shown in my country "due to its violent scenes" (damn it)

The 2nd book is very boring though.

I thought it was pretty great!
I think if I read the book first I would have been a little disappointed, though. There's so much more to everything that happens that just can't be shown in a movie, when the book it's made from is in first person; so much of what The Hunger Games is about was portrayed through Katniss' thoughts.

I can't wait for the next movie. I wonder if they will make Mockingjay, as well. I can't imagine them not, but the book is so, so violent; it's going to be hard to hide the gore through shaky camerawork in that one.

The only disappointment, was no Madge I mean seriously she was the ONE who gave the mockingjay pin!

The writing was what let down the books... whereas the film didn't have to worry about that, it excelled on it's own. To anyone complaining about left out bits: It was incredibly long! :O Not in a bad way, they kept it lively, but I'm pretty glad it wasn't any longer! Plus, I'm stoked they didn't rely on a cliché, first-person voiceover. That would have sucked.

The book was absolutely amazing!!! All the details were perfect and then watching the movie was a whole different topic. I felt like I read that book for nothing. I could've skimmed the book and understand what happened in the movie. The details that made it the Hunger Games werent in there.
Wheres the part when she bathes peeta?
Two kisses the whole movie?
The funny story about the goat and when peeta first met her?
That urks me. But it was a good movie. Sorry for the rant lol

I thought they did a great job~ its so difficult to make a movie from a book, and for what they were able to do I really appreciate them trying to keep it to the book as much as possible (although I did miss seeing the prep team and effie's role wasn't as awesome as it was in the movie :P)

I wanted to see the mutts and Madge.
And i really wouldve preferred it without the sketchy camerawork in the beginning and fight scenes,
But none the less a great book and a great movie

I made an effort to read the entire series before I saw the movie. It was great except I didn't like how they took Madge's part out and I pictured Haymitch, Peeta and President Snow completely different.

I loved the movie, but I think there were some points that they could've improved on. Then again, they HAD to cut a few things or else it would have benn, like, four hour long. My only complaint besides the cuts was the shakey camera. I couldn't tell what was going on during half the combat/running scenes.

Yeah, I'm also a Battle Royal fan, and didn't know anything about the Hunger Games, until I asked someone about it. Other than the setting, and being more likely watered down from a PG-13 rating, the premise sounds familiar enough to draw some notable comparisons. I'm open enough to wait until its out on DVD, but other than that, I'm not too interested in seeing it now.

I thought it was lovely. Although, was it just me, or was the arena experiencing a perpetual earthquake?

I loved it, I felt that the parts they changed weren't that critical to the storyline. And I've personally never seen a movie that stuck to closely to the book, hell, even some of the lines in the movie were straight from the book.

It turned out so great. Of course it can't reach the awesomeness of the book, but it was quite a great interpretation. The only thing is that, because of the great amount of information that the book had, they were forced to leave out some details that I would have wanted to see.
But I guess they had no choice. The movie would probably turn out a little boring if they included everything.
I missed Madge and the Avox girl the most I think... among other minor details that didn't irritate me much.

I haven't seen it. though I heard it was really good. I heard it described as "it was a teen movie, like Twilight or Transformers, but unlike those movies, Hunger Games treated it's audience like it had a brain."

I loved it :)
Though there were a few flaws. No Madge D:
And the really uhh... fucked up the cave scene.
Only one kiss between Katniss and Peeta in the whole film? I mean... come on!
But Josh is so cute. I love his smile so much.
And I really cryed my eyes out when Rue died.

It would take a lot of screen time to explain the meaning of the pin... Plus, it would distract the viewers who hadn't read the book.
